Sal Monte (1939 – ) was considering civil engineering when a summer job offer from his girlfriend’s father came along. That job turned into a career he can look back on with much pride as he rose from summer employee to becoming president and co-owner of Kenrich Petrochemicals. He also won his girlfriend, Erika, as his wife.
Monte built one of the most applauded, award-winning careers in the plastics industry. He built on the foundation of his civil engineering degree from Manhattan College and benefitted from the similarities in principle between civil and chemical engineering.
Over the years, Sal has accumulated over thirty U.S. patents and has become a sought-after author and speaker in his field. He has published hundreds of articles and spoken to audiences worldwide, including all fifty in the United States.
Known for his philosophical approach to problem-solving, Monte emphasizes that his focus is always on the “why” behind a solution, the practical application of the data derived from experimentation.
In addition to his civil engineering degree, Monte holds a master’s degree in Polymeric Materials from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
